Does Edison osmega still need the old gl headers patch?

Can they maybe update the headers like Vu+?

No idea about Mali. btw, the sf8008, ustym4kpro and gbtrio4k are identical boxes with different branding.

On which box do you have the sound working?

 

I have tested on the Solo4K after a fresh develop install and the libasound installation and still no trace of  /dev/dsp nor /dev/mixer  so still no sound.

yes after the libasound installation no trace of /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer but you can see /proc/asound

For the VU+ 4K models, the kernel defconfig is not correct, which is why those proc nodes are not created.

on the solo4K now we have the files:

root@vusolo4k:~# ls /dev/mixer 
/dev/mixer
Kodi start but no sound.

On the Duo 4K we have the files:

root@vuduo4k:~# ls /dev/dsp 
/dev/dsp
root@vuduo4k:~# ls /dev/mixer 
/dev/mixer
Kodi doesn't start (it open up and close immediately).

Did you try changes to asound.conf ?

Test on Ultimo4k:with

asond.conf:

 

pcm.!default {
    type oss
    device /dev/dsp
}
 
ctl.!default {
    type oss
    device /dev/mixer
}
AND these are existing with todays build
 
/dev/dsp

/dev/mixer
 
 
have no sound on HDMI out BUT have sound on optical out. 
But Sound out of sync
 
Tested with downmix on.
 
BUT a step forward to have any form of sound.

Yes and no sound, and I also use the HDMI sound (not the optical one).

 

But would be nice if Kodi at least start on the Duo4K. :-)

If we look at the modified asound.conf we saw it tries to use the OSS.

 

If I refer to this:

We need to have OSS enabled in kernel too and we need the alsa-oss package.

OSS is enabled in the kernel, I've changed that earlier this week, and those changes have been merged by VU+ (which is why you now have the alsa /dev nodes).
