Still no sound in Kodi so I tried the very basic install alsa-utils and try to play a wav file with aplay and of course no sound.
 
if i start alsamixer I have this warning: This sound device does not have any controls.

So I think we should focus on having alsa working before hoping to have sound in Kodi.

Related to this i can tell that at least on my Ultimo4k i can with "aplay" get sound on the optical out but no sound on HDMI out.

HDMI is where it should work, i just wrote about optical as it may be to some help in understanding where the problem is!

BSP ist wo der Hersteller alle Box relatierte Sachen zur verfügung stellt wie z.B Kodi soll gebaut werden, Treiber u.s.w. Der Benutzer hat weiter nichts damit zu tun. Wie gesagt habe ich erwähnt wenn Kodi im BSP aktiviert ist dann muss es im Feed sein und da zu finden wie ich schon erwähnt habe. Menü - usw.

I cannot test on 4k device.

Not all images are the same.

 

We expect hardware dependent stuff to be supplied by the manufacturer. So if Octagon wants Kodi for their clients, they need to provide the libraries and the build recipe.

Note it would be wonderful if the patch had a couple of lines of comments explaining what is failing (and possibly why).

 

I see it is called a 'temp' fix so I suppose something has been upstreamed one side (xbmc) or the other (Vu+).

Fact is, it is there since kodi 17 and I see it also for kodi 19 in OE-A repository.

Some (bab) news:
 
on the solo4K now we have the files:
 

root@vusolo4k:~# ls /dev/dsp 
/dev/dsp
root@vusolo4k:~# ls /dev/mixer 
/dev/mixer

Kodi start but no sound.

On the Duo 4K we have the files:

root@vuduo4k:~# ls /dev/dsp 
/dev/dsp
root@vuduo4k:~# ls /dev/mixer 
/dev/mixer

Kodi doesn't start (it open up and close immediately).

 

Test on Ultimo4k:with

asond.conf:

 

pcm.!default {

    type oss

    device /dev/dsp

}

 

ctl.!default {

    type oss

    device /dev/mixer

}

AND these are existing with todays build

 

/dev/dsp

/dev/mixer

 

 

have no sound on HDMI out BUT have sound on optical out. 

But Sound out of sync

 

Tested with downmix on.

 

BUT a step forward to have any form of sound.

 

 

Tested some more settings today on my Ultimo4k

 

 System>Audio/Video> where it is a setting for "Audio auto volume level"

It was set to HDMI, changed it to Off and i had sound on HDMI aswell as on optical.

BUT sound is still out of sync and "choppy" in KODI.

So I have edite the kodi_18.inc and i have place the patch file in the folder where i have found the kodi_18.inc but I got this error:

 

/home/pr2/gitBuildOpenpli/openpli-oe-core/meta-openpli/recipes-mediacenter/kodi/kodi_18.bb: Unable to get checksum for kodi SRC_URI entry vuplus-fix-exception-duo4k.patch:
file could not be found

put the patch into /openpli-oe-core/meta-openpli/recipes-mediacenter/kodi/kodi-18 folder
then:

git add <path_to_the_file>

or

git add -A
