There is a full thread about adding EPG for stream everything is foreseen in EPGImport but you need to maintain/generate a unique service reference for your channel and add it properly into /etc/epgimport/custom.channels.xml file

The network section is a work in progress.
Historically, DNS entries were written in resolv.conf, but in recent distro's, this file is volatile which means you lose it after a reboot. This can be solved using openresolv, but it is not installed by default (yet).
Also, DNS is a per-interface setting, not a per-device setting, so DNS entries are now written to the interfaces file. Openresolv takes are populating resolv.conf from this infomation.
And the GUI hasn't changed yet to reflect this. I know WanWizard has been working on this, but he doesn't have the skills to update the GUI. And nobody else jumped in.

Like I said, not always possible (some dhcp servers don't support bootp) or an option (for example using multiple IP ranges on one network, only one can use DHCP).
And assiging a fixed configuration has been part of the linux network stack since it inception.
If someone wants to use it, they should be able to, and not be hindered by broken software,

I disagree with this statement that the router should handle the fixed IP address, some router doesn't allows you to perform this.
I have a logic on my STB with a fixed IP, the one in a given room always get the same IP address, so I fix it in the box and not on the router side.
I can use a custom backup settings from one box to another one if I use the internal fixed IP.
