After today online update (563 updates), my osmio4k is bricked !?!?

I can not boot in any other image..

Way to go py3 !!!

It is a development test image. If you're not a developer or tester, and not have the knowledge to deal with issues like this, don't use it.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

No one insisted you test these images. Trying to blame the developers will not help your situation. I doubt your receiver is actually bricked as this is not easy to do with enigma2 type receivers. Reloading the image should fix it unless you have a hardware issue.

When there is 563 updates it is always adviced to flash the box. So try to flash it.

I already ask you to use a static picture for your profile and you ignored my request.

Why? So when I have 500 update on my Ubuntu or Windows machines should I reload the operating system?

It depends on the box, on the packages, and the quality of them.

opkg processes downloads and installs in parallel, so the box needs enough free flash to accomodate those files. And there shouldn't be any inter package dependencies that interfere.

The biggest issue is that opkg performs an upgrade by doing an uninstall followed by an install, and if it is a bulk upgrade, multiple packages get uninstalled before being installed again. A big issue for example is busybox itself. If you remove that, you remove most of the linux commands as well, which may cause subsequent pre- or post inst- and rm scripts to fail.

If you run an upgrade on the commandline, you can usually work around this by running the upgrade again, until there is nothing left to upgrade.

But if you run the upgrade from the image, it won't do that, it will reboot after the first run, with the change the box won't boot up again if part of the upgrade failed.

A desktop OS doesn't have these issues. Plenty of space, no issues with busybox commands, and if the distro uses rpm, there is no uninstall/install cycle, as it supports incremental upgrades.

No, that's not correct.
or rather it is an inappropriate comparison.
We're talking about a branch that is under development!
This means that the entire OE core is constantly being updated.
These are version jumps that are not made in Ubuntu either.
If you test from the py3 branch, please always test with a new flash.

Otherwise we have to stop the updates coming from the OE core.
Then the updates wouldn't cause any problems either.

Good evening. There is a small problem with installing some files. There is a python version check in the postinst file - pyver=$(python -V 2>&1 | sed 's/.* \([0-9]\).\([0-9]\).*/\1\2/').

And depending on the version, the required one is installed.On OpenPli-py3 the plugin is not installed on openatv 7 there are no problems.

2022-03-20 19:05:33+0000 [-] Plugin  Extensions/E2m3u2bouquet failed to load: No module named 'Plugins.Extensions.E2m3u2bouquet.plugin'
2022-03-20 19:05:33+0000 [-] Plugin probably removed, but not cleanly in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/E2m3u2bouquet

The problem is "python not found".

Not sure if it expects python2 there, or an alias that maps "python" to "python3".

I guess it expects something that eventually maps to either a python2 or a python3 binary, so it can install the proper plugin version.

On my box there's a symlink /usr/bin/python that seems to be missing or dangling here.

In OE-A it looks like this:

root@vuultimo4k:~# ls -l /usr/bin | grep "python"
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root             7 Mar 15 18:01 python -> python3
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            10 Mar 15 18:01 python3 -> python3.10
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root          5548 Mar 15 16:33 python3.10
root@vuultimo4k:~#

So PLi is "missing" the python -> python3 symlink.
