ok
did a few more tests....
i can see when i start newcs it doesnt get any response from my reader and fails... however this reader works fine on dm500s...
i then started newcs and this time the cable is connected to the pc... i can see in "Serial Mon" tool on the pc the incoming requests , and when i send data out to the box and do command :
cat /proc/tty/driver/serial
i can see the rx increment....
so i guess there is some communication working... strange that it doesnt work for my reader though.... very strange...
when the reader is connected this is what happens, it gets a response packet as rx incrrements, but it stays in this state :
serinfo:1.0 driver revision:
0: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:65 tx:378 rx:688 CTS|DTR
1: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:66 tx:0 rx:0 CTS
2: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:67 tx:0 rx:0
what does that mean.... RX is increasing as per reset command....

stty -F /dev/tts/0 raw 115200
echo "hello" > /dev/tts/0
works on my 7000 not on my 800
when I echo to the serial port on my 800 I see the TX incrememt but nothing is transfered. tried minicom as well.
when I boot the 800 I do see the console scrol by for a little bit, then nothing.

2->3
3->2
5->5
this cable with loop back (1-4-6 and 7-8) does not send any data between the reader and dm8000 box.... = fail.
a cable with (2-2, 3-3, 5-5, 1-4-6 and 7-8 ) allows the data to be sent between the reader and dm8000 however it still doesnt seem to respond... newcs 1.65 while running i have this result :
serinfo:1.0 driver revision:
0: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:65 tx:1032 rx:460 CTS|DTR
1: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:66 tx:0 rx:0 CTS
2: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:67 tx:0 rx:0
for cccam while running i get :
serinfo:1.0 driver revision:
0: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:65 tx:1152 rx:580 RTS|CTS|DTR
1: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:66 tx:0 rx:0 CTS
2: uart:16550A mmio:0x00000000 irq:67 tx:0 rx:0
Question is , what pin layout do i need to get this working --- i dont understand the problem..... i have tested with straight cable which works fine on dm500s... no idea

Can your pc even talk to the dreambox? I open putty and get comm uptill it starts to boot. After that I can't regain comms on my 800 my 7000 is fine.
If you can communicate with the serial port there is no point trying to get the iso working.

@updatelee
if you see debug output while booting, you'd better disable the console output in kernel arguments (in the bootloader). Just use console=null. (check with cat /proc/cmdline to make sure that's the case)
You won't be able to use the comport when kernel messages keep messing up your communication.
