Can we assume that VU+ uses transformer/magnetic coupling on its RJ45 ports?

I found the RJ45/USB/USB socket that is used by VU+:

At first I thought Dielectric Withstanding Voltage: 100VAC Min. means some type of protection, but usb-only socket has exactly the same spec.

PoE I have (ubiquiti injector) is passive and always on. I did some research, and it seems that ethernet specs require rj45 ports to be magnetically coupled and handle a lot more than 24V? https://electronics....tically-coupled

From what I understand standard PoE doesn't send any power unless device requests it first, unlike the simple injectors like the one I have that are always on. As far as wires go, 100 Mbps uses all but two wires, while 1Gbps uses all? I had it connected through 100 Mbps switch, so that may be what saved me.

In Topic: 3.5" or 2.5" hdd? For passively cooled VU+

I would like at least 1TB, preferably 2TB, so SSD is way out of my budget unfortunately.

I've been researching a bit since asking the question and I'm getting conflicting information whether 2.5" hdds are consistently quieter and use less power (which is obviously directly heat to the amount of heat they generated).

What would be good quiet models with low power consumption? 1 or 2TB

Are you sure you didn't put a FBC cable tuner in slot B ? I have an ultimo 4k as well and no problems with the cablescan. Also automatically no problems.

I just double checked and it is in slot A.

May I ask what version of openpli you use?
