#277818 Satco Europe GmbH wins against Dream Property GmbH

They are getting ready...

http://www.marusys.com/PR%20Center.html?linkpage=press&idx=104

If you didn't already have enough ways to get content onto your iPhone, Marusys is adding two more to the pile with its MS630S and MS850S set-top boxes. Said to be PVR-ready, these boxes are designed to serve up content in all sorts of ways, with composite, component, and HDMI video outputs on the back and, inside, the ability to run Linux-based media players like XBMC. Both rock a Magnum DX6225 media chip, enabling on-the-fly transcoding of content into a variety of formats, including the hallmark feature of these devices: streaming straight to the iPhone over WiFi. It's not exactly clear how this will work as Marusys itself doesn't explain this functionality on its site, but Magnum certainly talks it up in the press release after the break. No word on price and availability of either, or when we might get more info on how this whole thing fits together, but you can be sure you'll know as soon as we do.

Magnum Semiconductor Brings Any-Content-Anywhere Streaming Capability to Marusys Set-Top Boxes

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - April 10, 2010) - Magnum Semiconductor, leader in professional-grade media processors, and Marusys, leader in Linux-based integrated-PVR set-top boxes, announced today that they are using the powerful and versatile Magnum Semiconductor single-chip DX6225 transcoder in the latest generation Marusys DVB-S/S2 HD PVR receiver set-top boxes with HD recording and streaming over WiFi to the Apple® iPhone®.
The DX6225 excels in multi-format transrating, transcoding from MPEG-2, H.264 to H.264 and in conversion to mobile media player resolutions at very low bit rates without compromising video quality. "Magnum Semiconductor proved to be a valuable partner to our core business, providing the best combination of design support, product features and price in a highly competitive market. The DX6225 allows us to extend our leadership in the satellite receiver PVR market with our MS850S and MS630S products by offering the best user experience in terms of video quality, recording time and freedom to not only decide when, but also where to watch their favorite broadcast programming in the home," said Yong Gyu Park, CEO at Marusys, Korea.

#277785 Satco Europe GmbH wins against Dream Property GmbH

They already tried the copyright BS with their new project, XBMC4STB...

I hope this changes things and they stop the ludicrous "protection"...

The best part is that Marusys will have to take great care with their new, upcoming OS, XBMC4STB, not to try to write the same horrible story, as DMM with Enigma, as I fear they will try...

You see, they too will take something already existing in the Open Source community, alter it to suit their purposes and then try to close it, while at the same time soliciting help from the very same community....

That would be unforgivable!!! And illegal. I hope someone, in such a scenario, sues the living daylights out of them, too!!!

VIVA OPEN SOURCE, VIVA GPLv2!!! :D

A funny translation of funny court case... ;)

DMM as comedians, finally exposed... :D

Thanx and good luck!!

#276822 unofficial Open PLi for AZBox , coming soon

It's interesting, members registering on various forums where I write about this box, since I have it, just to stir.... Similar to "new members" suddenly posting about that atomic-cs nonsense... Bah!

m8 no offence to you, i am just an azbox owner and what this guys maded for our stbs are amazing

I know that grammar very well, mistakes and all - why don't you say who you really are, for crying out loud, so we can have an honest discussion?!?

No, sadly, it's not yet amazing - maybe it could be but not yet! Reasons are everywhere...

but what i cant understand is why you are always so critic about them

Because I can compare and I tell the truth. If you have a problem with that - don't read it.

But if you have an interest in selling these boxes - state it openly, so we know how to deal with you and your "objective arguments"...

do you have a time to enjoy any single moment in front of tv or just to write sarcastic comments

They are not sarcastic but exasperated - how long is this going on now, any idea? And it's still on promises and more promises but no way anything functions really well as it is supposed to and as it does function in some other boxes...

What i could say about my Peugeot and problems which I had with it, and other owners of same car and model was enjoying in that time, while my car was on service full 2 months, and service was telling me it is not factory problem, it is problem of driver, inputing that i caused crash of dual mass flywheel and grearbox
and still i am owner of Peugeot, but this time new one, and I am happy with it

Indeed, they promised a Lamborghini, that will eat DMM for breakfast - and instead, we got a Peugeot, as you rightly state.... :D

Maybe you are the one who is - for some strange reason we can not yet assess properly... - "happy" because your expectations are low and not on the same level as most users using these machines, having all sorts of various problems?!?

I know of one thing for sure: without open debate and honest reporting of the problems no one is going anywhere in speed...

And the culture surrounding that box is not supporting such a spirit, sadly...

For that I do not blame The_Ripper or Sattommy!

#276484 OpenPLi E1 for DBox2 - anybody ever tried to make one?

Posted by gorski on 13 May 2012 - 13:41

Just curious, since there are E1 images for DMM...

I gave my DBox2 to a friend and he messed it up...

Now, he is coming to see me and will bring it with him, in order for me to re-flash it, so I wanna try different things, before I settle for an image...

I always use PB E1 for it, as I deem it the best - but this being a hobby for me, I am always up for testing new stuff, so... just a question, that's all...

Cheers!

#276425 unofficial Open PLi for AZBox , coming soon

Posted by gorski on 13 May 2012 - 01:32

The_Ripper himself said on this forum he was working on a kernel which will support OpenPLi on AZ boxes...

It seems it is finally happening - but the proof lies in the eating, so we wait to see the real release...

We have, indeed, seen this story many times before but it is still... "in the making"...

I hope OpenPLi are their saviour, for the sake of hobbyists who own AZ...

But I will need to test this myself and see it really kicking arse...

#275841 For Pli Team Pelease?

Posted by gorski on 9 May 2012 - 09:06

So is ET or Vu, in so many ways, which is why one of them is in the dock...

But I do not agree with that, ergo... ;)
