@golfdiesel,
I do not expect that older hardware can preform as modern hardware.
But this box was advertised as hobby box with a FULL linux.
And as it is NOT a full linux i expected at least the base linux functions to be working,
1 Mounting Ext2 / iso9660 is not working so jou can't even see your holidy foto's burnt on cd.
2 USB keyboard only workiny partialy (probably only dreamkbd functions).
3 usb mous not working
4 No cryptoloop
I know those functions are possible on any linux!
Then the functions that are implemented
The mp3media player does not have a random play multi directory function, so it can't be replacing an 12 year old dvd wit OneFirmwareForAll (they got enything that was possible out of a dvd player).
The dvd player missing lots of functions.
Than playing media with software encoding, did someone try it (i Don't Think so).
I have seen and have Antique (in Computer Terms) hardware and with Linux peform verry well.
For example playing Divx/Xvid with special mediaplayer or VLC without GUI.
So i am a little bit disapointed.

@ Meega, than i read wrong or not all boxes are doing so well.
@Wan Wizard
Thanks.
Why keep stripping everything out to put in 8MB internal flash while we can use internal CF or Harddisk or external usb stick?
I have now about 6 images on my CF card and see not mutch difference.
Why using openpli?
My posts are not ment to be complains , i only am a bit disapointed (the dreambox used to be the best box those days, now I am happy i dit not buy).
For now i wil use the DM 7000 for sat viewing only and the dvd players needs to be around for more years multimedia.

Hello dvboxer
you have a powered multiswitch that makes a powersuply fail unlikly (but not inpossible).
Powersuply fail is mostly on older boxes and replacing the secundary capisistors in the power suply will correct it.
In your case I would inspect the cables and connectors between multiswitch and your vu.
I do not know much about sat software so i hope you get help with it from others.
@ Eric Slagter,
If it is random you are right but dvboxer is saying it is only on startup and other boxes do not have the problem.
The time needed to a good alignment is depending on the tools you have , with professional tools it can be done verry fast les than an hour.

@mirakels,
I dit not mean android (i know nothing about it ) the Raspberry coms with a linux and there is a media player linux for it .
Ani i think there are comming more versions.
@WanWizard ,
Sorry i dit not know that, Where can i find the repository commit logs?
I know the DM 7000 an old box but not antique (i do not like trowing away good working hardware after only a few years).
Think the computer i am writing this post on has les power (Via Samuel2 500MHZ) and is running fine (2004 made).
On what I expect from ANY linux a minimal compatibility with the standard (at least mounting enything native to linux )
With the ability of multi booting and a hard disk or flash the linux can grow!
So no need to keep using extremly stripped linux.
And i read that the modern pli for enigma2 can't even play H264/xvid/divx properly on its own without pc correct me if i'm wrong zo as media player unusable.
