Tried to backup now that I've solved the problems with my receiver but notging to do.

In backupsuite.log file I read that:

*** THIS BACKUP IS CREATED WITH THE BACKUPSUITE PLUGIN ***
*****  https://github.com/OpenVisionE2/BackupSuite  ******

Plugin version     = git504+9967f99
Back-up media      = /media/usb
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1                 3.9G     95.4M      3.8G   2% /media/usb

Back-up = 2020.08.28_15:48
Version = openpli 7.3-release
Flashed = 2020.08.24_01:00
Updated = 2020.08.28_15:47
Drivers = zgemma-dvb-modules-h9combo - 4.4.35-20200720-r0.0
Enigma2 = 2020-08-21-release-7.3

Working directory  = /media/usb/bi
Not Open Vision, OpenPLi or SatDreamGr maybe?
Non è stato trovato nessun ricevitore supportato!
Creazione dell'immagine FALLITA!

No supported receiver was found

But I read also:

Not Open Vision, OpenPLi or SatDreamGr maybe?

I'm confused... the problem is the image or the receiver? And if is the image... I read that OpenPLi should be supported :huh:

There's no code in Backup Suite to block the plugin from running on other images, that message tells you're using an image which isn't OV so the check files are different.

The old generation of Backup Suite uses hard-coded values and pre-defined tables to detect your model so seems it can't detect your model and I think it's because of the new drivers which ruined almost every check, example: https://github.com/E...83c924c422116e5

So don't blame me as there's no single reliable company in enigma2 scene with APIs and drivers.

The reason we have our own model detection in Open Vision is exactly that we don't care what companies advertise as model name, we do what we think is better for all of our sources.

Persian Prince

When I think of how many receivers both OpenATV & OpenViX backup with their (different) image backup software I find it difficult to understand your point of view

What's the relation between my post and ViX or ATV?

I have no intention to support those images and they have their own backup tools, there are some similarities between Open Vision and SatDreamGr because of the PLi's enigma2 and also our OEs which are not similar to OE-A

Did you even read the above posts? Some users want to run old generation of Backup Suite on hardwares with new drivers and their box won't get detected so how is it related to ViX or ATV?

I'm getting tired of seeing posts getting captured to mention OE-A images are better in everyway, ok they're better so good for you.

What's the relation between my post and ViX or ATV?

None, just that ViX and ATV provide backup support for all the boxes they build images for, you appear to be more selective.

Backup Suite in Open Vision supports everything except SH4 architecture (which is not yet implemented) so there's no exception in our images.

It's not my duty to support other images, I'm not a PLi member and I didn't break the plugin to not detect what was ok before so ask for help from the one who broke it.

Not sure anyone broke it, the H9 Combo and H9 Twin are new boxes in OpenPLi 7.3.

I think Pli team should take the direction of oe-a and have their own backup included in image, its never a good idea to rely on someone doing the job you are supposed to do.

If you can provide us with the people to do all that extra work?

Besides that, what exactly is the point of a full backup? None of us ever use it. So there isn't much incentive to spend time on it.

I use this for years now, and also know others that use this for years.

So for me it would be highly appriciated when the backupsuite plugin also works after performing a software update in the OpenPLI image.

Configure autobackup, and have it make a backup of external storage (disk, usb). Restore is a matter of flashing, the backup will be automatically restored after a flash.

( this does not restore ipks that where installed manually, but those can be placed in the backup manually )

default branch is the "develop" and I think that the 'master' branch should be fixed for pli.

as already happened in develop

Readme develop

https://github.com/O...velop/README.md

Readme master

https://github.com/O...aster/README.md

In the develop PP has adjusted the 'api' things regarding OpenVision.
Therefore it doesn't work for other images.
That's why he changed OpenpliCore develop via pullrequest

If there aren't any required changed in develop that are not in master, I'll backport it for the next release update.

I know it's all a bit crazy because of 'devlop' here and 'master' there, but I think that's exactly the problem in 7.3 right now.

No need for a fork, master branch is for PLi and I just invited you @WanWizard to have write access :)

Recent driver changes from Zgemma broke the support I think so you could investigate the new box names presented by Zgemma.

develop branch won't work for any other image as we have unique files in Open Vision.
