Something (I guess your usb device) ran out of space.

Hi Pedro, thanks for your post.

I have done as you advised but the log is empty!

I just tried to do a back up again but i get the whole process finish and the message 2 execution finished' comes up in about 5 seconds again.

I have checked and although i could see a back up with today's date for each time i tried earlier there is actually nothing inside the back up itself when i check.

IN WHITE TEXT:

My HDD is completely empty so i don't understand why the message would state not enough space.

I have cleared some previous backup images and have tried again, this time it takes a little time but the message still reads Image creation failed.

This is the first time i have had this problem, it's not been a problem in previous backups i have made.

I have attached images of the messages on screen if you are able to advise further i would be very grateful because i don't know what to do now.

I have an Xtrend ET 9200 and using the OpenXTA 5.0 image. I am trying to make a backup so i can try a latest OpenPli version.

I have attached the message i have on screen when i try to make a backup using my image's version of the BackupSuite (which is not as good as the backupsuite)

Your hard disk isn't recognised properly. The backup is made on an usb device with only 74mb left, but I think this is not the case.
Look under menu-> information -> receiver if your hard disk is recognised and how much free space you have

Also your image is very big, it can't be restored by flashing it with the usb.

Pedro, i am looking now and this is what it reads..

Detected HDD

ATA(WDC WD5000AAKX-0)

500.107GB, 475.0 GB free)

Kingston(DataTraveler G3)

(3.874 GB,  0.0 MB free)

The Kingston refers to my USB at the back of the receiver which is for my epg data etc..

I'm not trying to back up to my USB i'm trying to back up to my HDD using the green button within the BackupSuite. I'm not sure whay it refers to USB in the back up.

Did you install the USB-stick as HDD replacement?

What is the result of the command

df -h

Your USB-stick is full, are there some backups because ~4Gb only epg data is a bit much to say the least

No i didn't set the USB as a HDD replaacement, I've not changed a thing since my last back up.

The command you posted brings up the following:

Filesysytem                      size                    used                  available      use%           mounted on

ubi0:rootfs                       216.3M              216.3M                 12.0K          100%           /

devtmpfs                         141.8M                  4.0K                  141.8M           0%           /dev

tmpfs                                 64.0K                      0                      64.0K            0%          media

/dev/sda1                        465.5G                  1.2G                  464.3G           0%         media/hdd

tmpfs                               141.9M                164.0K                141.8M           0%         /var/volatile

The USB has the following:

backup (today's date/which is an empty folder)

crossepg

g16_setup_pict (which is empty)

imagebackups (today's date/which is empty)

lost+found (which is empty)

more_icons (which is empty)

movie (which is empty)

picon (which is empty)

piconCam (which is empty)

piconOled (which is empty)

piconProv (which is empty)

piconSat (which is empty)

enigma2-skin-hdglass16_4.51_mipsel.ipk (filesize: 4,619,294)

epg.dat

I use the PLi HD skin so i don't know if the hdglass skin that's in my USB is the reason i've run out of space. Should it be deleted as i'll never use it?

Your thoughts would be appreciated, as always.

For what it is worth: I think a decent Device Manager (like PBNIGMA one), with killed auto mounting, does the trick properly...

If you can and indeed have to mount your devices - no problem like that occurs!

At least from my experience...

<span style='font-family: comic sans ms,cursive'>"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-incurred immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one's own understanding without the guidance of another. Probably but i would not try to restore it since i do not think backup was done in the right way because apply crashed at the end, butz i will check the log next time it crash :-)

When it hangs could you try to login in telnet and copy the BackupSuite.log from the /tmp/ folder?

Now I don't have a clue what is going on

When will BackupSuite support  the VU Solo 4K?

I can make a backup but i can't restore a backup. I get an error message saying:  Sorry BackupSuite does not (yet) supporting VU Solo 4K (or something like that  ^_^ )

I hope soon, but it's not easy to adapt my tool ( which is used) because solo4k uses ext4 filesystem instead of ubifs and it use eMMC (something like an SSD).
