Erik... I suggest we could go for Gstreamer 1.4.4(2) before X-mass... in this case.... no(t many) issues suspected...

mx3L and athoik could help us that we do not forget anything ;)

Some users have reported issues with gstreamer 1.x:
Playback of very big mkv (20-40GB; blue ray rip) should stop every 10-20 minutes (cannot confirm this because I don't have such files).
Covers included in MP3 files are not shown.
When Merlin music player is installed, MP3 playback from normal media player is not working (I can confirm this).

This patch is required for UTF-8 subtitles without BOM: https://bugzilla.gno...tachment=292114 because sometimes it fails to detect them correctly.

PS. Above patch should applied against gst 0.10 branch too

0001-riff-media-added-fourcc-to-all-mpeg4-video-caps.patch - supply patch for build environment!
gst10_as_gst010_base.patch - applied
gst10_as_gst010_divx4_fix.patch - applied

Patch agains gst itself, should have a build environment patch to apply it while building.

That decision is not up to me...

If possible it would be nice to have gst-1.0 branch updated and "experimental" images produced from that branch (on a weekly basis, eg every Sunday).

People that like to experiment (yes there are many) can test and report any issues (without expecting fix asap...) or even beter provide patches and fixes!

People that like to stay on safe side (yes there are many also) they will not complain for broken features etc!

We're discussing internally how we can set this up, I assume it will be decided in the next few weeks (after which it still needs to be setup).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Is it already in the SatDreamGR images? That already would give quite some opportunity for testing ;)

SatDreamGR follows OpenPLi changes under master branch. So we haven't released public images with GStreamer 1.0+ :(

I think only betacentauri released GStreamer 1.0+ public images.

ATV as well: http://images2.mynon.../4.3/index.php?
Although the results of the public tests aren't very useful: http://www.opena.tv/...gst-1-44-a.html

Problem with OpenATV test is that many use VU, dream and other boxes which need special dvbmediasinks. And these special mediasinks are not adapted yet.

And there were many curious problems with boot loops and so on.

Yes, right. Here are "OpenPli" images for Xtrend boxes with gstreamer 1.44:

http://image.openxta...=gstreamer1.4.x

Images are approx 2 weeks old. So latest changes for divx playback are not included.

Warning! These are not genuine OpenPli images! Only purpose is to test new gstreamer. Feeds are available, but will be deleted after test end! Please report gstreamer problems here. There will be no support for these images.

And do "we" also have issues with dmm and vu due to the sink stuff....?

Some features (codecs) won't be available in dmm/vu because OpenPLi uses different ioctl's.

Most probably it's easy to fix (after latest changes from peteru), if the only diff is the ioctl ;)

At the moment yes. VU and dream also use dvbmediasink version from schwerkraft git. So you need to create patches for that git or you need to adapt the openpli version to use different iotcls for different boxes...
