Hi, we have a dm8000hd and went to play a film lastnight which wouldn't work and finally the above error appeared. We searched through our entire system plugins ect and couldn't see anything related to gstreamer which we find a bit odd since we've not had this issue before and I'm sure we have/had gstreamer installed. What do I have to do o make this work? :/

Check which codecs are used for audio and video. You can use mediainfo or e.g. vlc.

And where does the error occur? In the e2 log? If yes, please post the hole log.

And which video codec? Or was it only a sound issue?

TrueHD codec might be a problem. I think trueHD don't works on my et9200 and I don't know if your dream supports it.

Here is a gstreamer patch to enable TrueHd support in matroska files. It's fully tested with OpenPli3. And I have also checked that it don't breaks OpenPli 4 builds.

To playback TrueHd it seems to be necessary to install gst-ffmpeg and dependencies(libav,...) for it.

So after OpenPli has applyied the patch you need to install the libraries. Here is a description (it's the same as for alac):

http://openpli.org/f...ndpost&p=368331

A little warning:

I found only 2 testfiles. Sounds and video plays fine, but with these 2 files CPU load is quite high >80% (et9200).

Website does only have m2ts files with TrueHd. No mkv. And m2ts files are not processed by gstreamer. I didn't test, but I guess TrueHd won't work for them.

Yes, I know. I tried it once with other files(other codecs and it didn't work).

But here mkv was the problem(I guess). I could reproduce the problem and my patch solves it.
@pieterg: Can you commit the patch?
And do you have time to look at this? http://openpli.org/f...ndpost&p=368331
Or did you already look at it?

I am renaming them to .mkv and then gstreamer handles those files. It worth trying.

Pieterg has only committed my patch in OpenPli 4. So when you use OpenPli 3 it unfortunately won't work. So you need to build your own image or switch to OpenPli 4 or
@pieterg: Can you also commit it in OpenPli 3?

There are several threads about it. Login via telnet and execute passwd. You can set the same password again. Afterwards FTP should work.
