Learn to read, Poppy... :D :D :D

I have learned much more then you about the subject and know how to implement it. So, stop patronizing.

At the end of the day...combo, twin, triple, or whatever you want to call it...nobody cares.

I added the terms (in good faith, no patronising overtones, whatsoever!) as used in those debates for quite a while, especially in AZbug HD debate, when they promised "twin tuner", only to deliver "combo" capacity, in the manner I described, carefully wording it, only for you to try to belittle it (not a good level at which to debate things, for sure...)... Talk about patronising in tone and attitude... (On the other hand, we must not speak badly of you and your efforts... Ahem... :D ) The reason was - that the HW of the first two models was just not capable enough, hence the Premium+ model later on (with a stronger "South Bridge", if memory serves). So, I don't talk completely from the top of my head, as you seem to be (patronisingly) implying... :D

And if nobody cares - why all this posturing? :D (Gotcha! :D )

But I care. And a few others, obviously, so... :)

Thank you all for your help and ideas. The comparison tables are also very helpful.

As was delicately pointed out by Pr2, though, and also by pop_eye, the Prismcube is not an option for me unfortunately, regardless how wholeheartedly comitted its maker may be to open source.
________________________________________

Regarding Coolstream, I found this German thread from beginning of 2012, presenting the then brand new "TwinTuner" Neo² (which is the only Coolstream box I have considered, with twin DVB-C, of course). At least some of the posters are, I believe, also developers of Neutrino HD. There it is said that simultaneous recording on both tuners is possible, and also, of course, watching on one while recording on the other. Furthermore, if those reports are to be believed, the user only has to concern himself with the selection of a channel, and the system will automatically change tuner as needed.

Quoting PauleFoul in that thread:

Im normalen Betrieb der Box merkt man gar nicht das man einen Twin-Receiver benutzt, nur ein kleines Symbol im Infobar beim Umschalten zeigt den verwendeten Tuner an. Man muss schon sehr genau hinschauen damit es überhaupt ins Auge fällt.

(Which I think translates to something like: "Under normal operation of the box, you'll not notice you're using a twin receiver. Only a small symbol in the info bar when switching channels will show what tuner is used. You have to look closely to notice it at all.")

Also, Dutch Astrasat (now apparently the main European distributor of Coolstream) has a page on the Neo². (I don't think I can link to it under the forum rules since they seem to be selling the box directly, but you can probably find it for yourselves.) There they claim (in Dutch, but there is Google translate) that this box allows you to record no less than 7 channels and watch an 8th (!?!). At first I thought they must have been smoking something, but it seems it's common for DVB boxes to allow several channels per tuner to be simultaneously recorded (or watched). Again, I am a newcomer to this.

Finally, Tuxbox.org (the ones who seem to have started it all) has a wiki for Neutrino HD (German only, unfortunately). Where it is said that a warning symbol will be shown for any recording that overlaps with a previously set recording, but that this is relevant only when no more than a single tuner is available and the recordings are on different transponders. Which to me seems to imply that, when two tuners are available, both can indeed be simultaneously used for recordings, and that Neutrino HD will automatically make this happen.

(On the same page, it's also said that, with one tuner, PiP is only possible with pictures from the same transponder, but, with two tuners, Neutrino HD can show PiP from any two different transponders.)

I have to believe you, of course, when you tell me that Enigma2 deals more intelligently with tuner selection than does Neutrino HD (you clearly have an understanding of the inner workings of these systems), but couldn't it be that the AzBox in the YouTube video was configured in some non-standard way? I see that tuner use on the Coolstream Neo² can be configured in a number of ways, one of which is "loop" (which would be the normal use of twin DVB-C tuners), another being "independent" (only for sat tuners).

Conax cards can run on 5MHz, being a class A (5V) card, it should support frequencies in the range of 1-5MHz according to ISO7816-3.

So you should not worry about destroying your card.

Thank you. This sounds very reassuring. I was indeed afraid the Xtrend card reader might even destroy the card. Seems I don't have to worry about that at least.

The only doubt then, would be whether it runs well (no software crash).

Thanx, I read a bit about Coolstream but not enough to claim anything (like some here, talking from the top of their heads "authoritatively" while accusing others of writing "garbage"... :D Swell!!! :D ).

This is indeed good to know.

PrismCube Ruby was mentioned by me but only in the context of the message above mine, to "complete" the picture of twin tuner capable HD systems available to us. Moreover, I only said that we should watch the development of the project, which is not that open, as we heard even from people closely connected to it, on this very forum - not recommending it, since it's a new project and I have a lot to learn about it before I can recommend it for specific purposes... (Btw, PR2 was being sarcy, as per usual...)

NeutrinoHD (open source) as presumming from the original posting request has not such "open" support as enigma2 receivers.

When I posted about it was hinting that dual, twin, burger combo "open source" support is currently not available.

http://www.dbox2worl...n-tuner-source/

You will be paying for semi-closed source Neutrino supported zapper.

Or download the source code and start reading spaghetti code.

Then you are not a youngster anymore, because reading is mandatory and not only copy&pasting. :D

Firstly, you are incapable of showing any respect, towards anyone, it seems to me, from your musings on this forum - if you find as much as one little "imperfection" you forget the whole in a second, and that to me is really a sign of a shrivelled up, petty soul... Secondly, if there are no obvious "imperfections" you will invent one where they don't exists, like you have just been caught red-handed doing with "!twin tuner" issue with Neutrino HD. Talk about garbage, kettle calling a teapot names and whatever else...

Moreover, I have never ever said I was a coder - quite the opposite. You on the other hand have a superiority complex, it seems. So, since you see yourself in such a light - where are your great achievements in coding Sat TV stuff?!?

So, go on, make me laugh out loud some more...

You sure show me your true colors. Only going after recognition.

Did you ever played with Neutrino code or with enigma1 and enigma2 code ?

Well yes I did that for many times - but I am not claiming any respect for that. I only claim that a person who is not certain of things to shut up.

Wording, verbiage or lingo...really does not matter anymore when you understand the functionality of a software.

So, go on continue beating with the same stick.

If you know how to listen you will listen eventually - but I`m afraid you are not one of those kinds.

I know very well who deserves respect and who does not. :D

Just to patronize and show disrespect for anyone work..that is your job.

You dont have the knowledge to call yourself a hobbyist but still claiming fruits from other people work ?

And still I explained it very well the difference between dual and twin including the lack of open source for the twin implementation in Neutrino HD (as claimed on dbox2 forum)

and you still continue bringing this up... Judge my wordings, that is all you have :P Poor gorski... -_-
