OE-A version of CrossEPG. OpenTV download works fine on Solo4K.
->
When OE-A does update e2openplugins and VU+4K has a bsp layer it should also run on OpenPLi....

P.S. and still I think something like openTV should be implemented in plain Enigma2.. just like and next to FastScan and CableScan... ;)

(3rd) party plugins  with binaries will be a bit more difficult.... because VU+4K is on ARM.

Almost all plugins all actually only python code, even though their arch says mips32el.

Great. So now the only OpenTV capable downloader has now been removed from OpenPLi.

I don't understand, it won't work on any non-mips32el stb anyway.

Why can't they just make a version without binary blobs? As soon as the binary blob is gone, I will re-enable it. I have no grudge whatsoever against crossepg. I do have a grudge agains closed binary blobs in an open source environment, especially when it breaks a build.

It won't solve the problem though.

Only binaries I can see in the repo are the MHW2 readers, so they won't work. For the rest it looks like source is available.

So... why is mhw2 reader "secret"?

Good question. This is the last commit of those binaries: https://github.com/E...cf0d117256ec1d1

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

mhw2epgdownloader is not a core part of CrossEPG. It is a contributed 3rd party script, unfortunately only in binary form. I guess we can remove this from the feed and let the rest of the plugin to be built.

The core-part of Cross is 'only' the open-TV reader (and parser). All the rest can be left out.

Ideally that isn't part of an external plugin at all, but part of Enigma. Like all other EPG readers...

Rob is right. The only useful part of Cross is OpenTV.

But there doesn't seem to be the will from PLi to get the task done and get rid of this terrible plugin.

The will is absolutely there, the problem is the current reader code, and the EPG implementation in general, is a mess, so that requires cleanup first.

Unfortunately, that's quite a bit of work, nobody has picked that up yet, so we're in a chicken-and-egg situation at the moment.

Other things have been added without worrying about the chicken and egg, for example, Freesat and Virgin. We are talking 10 or 20 lines of code here by someone who knows what they are doing. Does that really have to wait in the queue behind a complete rewrite of OpenPLi EPG which currently is not even on the horizon?

Back to the issue. I repeat once more, when the binary blob is removed, I'd happily re-enable cross-epg.

I just repeat what has been said. I'm not a developer, so I can't comment. As a SKY UK viewer, I would be favour of integrating it now.

It means the first step in the process of support.

Today we reached the second step: the BSP now builds okay, unfortunately that means the crossepg plugin can't be built anymore.

Now we're going to do some QA tests internally and only when we think the outcome is satisfactory, the images will start building.
