Absolute weird.
Did you have a customized smb.conf file on your old box? In /etc/samba/smb.conf? Samba 4 uses a different syntax in the config file, OpenPLi 4 files are not compatible.

There seems to be something seriously wrong somewhere.
Let's start by reinstalling samba:
opkg update && opkg install sabma --force-reinstall
do you now have an /etc/samba/smb.conf ? And is samba running now?

And it reinstalled fine? No messages, warnings, other output?
The default config file is part of the package, so if it installed without problems, I wouldn't know why it wouldn't be there.

Did you install from scratch, of did you restore a backup?
I did a quick check on the buildserver, and indeed, none of the samba packages contains an smb.conf. Which explains the problem.
As a fix, install https://raw.githubus.../samba/smb.conf in /etc/samba, and restart either the box or samba.

Cool, thanks for debugging this. I'll try to fix this for the next release update.

After update today, Release 6.0 from 23.10.2017, I have no samba access to my box Hd2400?
Could you not fix the problem?
Or is it my mistake?

Did you restart after the update? And you may need to update (and restart) again, to pull the remainder of the updates in. Samba has circulair dependencies that won't update in one go.

Yeah, the two samba libraries. Good to hear it's working again, thanks for the feedback.

It is all so strange that it is necessary to flash 2 times in succession to have a normal functioning, no ?
I thus hesitate to make this new update.
Could you tell us if it will be corrected in next update ?

It has to do with circular package dependencies, for which samba is notorious. Which means that samba is dependent on some library, which in turn is dependent on samba.
On the first update samba is updated, but opkg doesn't see the dependencies until after it has installed it, so you need to update again to install the remaining two library packages.
It can't be corrected without major OE rewrite work, and it's not an issue, as it is a one-time thing.

You do not need to FLASH twice, just flash once followed by a restart and then an update of software via Settings.

But, we can make the update by the VU+ or it is absolutely necessary to flash totally again ?
And if i use the VU+ will it be the samba problem ?
