I think, here is typo ... there should be EXITICON instead EXITALTICON for display exit icon in special1 layout.

I'm sorry but these icons are completely incomprehensible for me.
I've seen them now for real on the VK and I have no idea what they mean/I keep forgetting what they mean.

Hi Rob,

 

The icons I used are similar to the common icons used on Android and other GUIs.

 

The door with an arrow pointing out represents an EXIT.

The arrow pointing left with a cross in it is delete backwards or BACKSPACE.

The arrow pointing right with a cross in it is delete forward or DELETE.

The eraser rubbing out data on the piece of paper is an erase function or CLEAR.

The picture of a globe with a talk box represents the world languages or LOCALE.  (There is a common option to just use the globe on its own but I thought the talk box made it a bit more obvious.)  (Obviously not!  )

The other icons are unchanged from before.

 

Some of the buttons have a colour highlight that also relates the icon to the button bar where the label of the function is available.

A rubber/eraser on a line to rub out/erase whole line
X to right to cross out 1 X item to right of cursor

If you have a strong objection to the iconography I can look at providing alternatives.  (For example, I could add a Setup screen to allow some of the options to be changed by users.)

Just one smal remark... when you place the green marker over the enter button you do rarely see it.... the marker key has now also a kind of green border...

I toned down the colours to make them less "loud".  Have I gone too far?  I can brighten the images if people think that would be better.
