openmultiboot selector is disappeared from powemenu list after updated  (openpli-develop 16-6-2024) image

i was on openpli-develop ( slot 2) i did software update ... after updates ..  the receiver restarted to recovery slot 0  instead of openpli-develop

i use openpli 9.0 as recovery slot 0
slot 1 openpli 8.3
slot 2 openpli-develop
slot 3 openpli 9.0

I think there were many updates today and that contains  kernel files. thats why the problem occurred... its because of Kernel updates

I think after these kernel updates, i must delete everything and Start over using the openpli-develop as recovery (slot 0)  instead of the openpli 9.0 to fix it

second problem is dreamboxedit .. i can not connect with my vuduo4k

regards

OpenMultiboot? Or the multiboot built into the image?

If the latter: there seems to be some VU+ BSP system package that isn't multiboot compatible, and breaks it when updating. We haven't found which package it is yet.

If slot 0 stil boots:

  • telnet into it
  • connect storage with 8GB+ space (depending on the box model)
  • save the existing multibox slots:
    cd /media/<device>
    tar -czf linuxrootfs1.tar.gz /linuxrootfs1
    tar -czf linuxrootfs2.tar.gz /linuxrootfs2
    tar -czf linuxrootfs3.tar.gz /linuxrootfs3
  • flash the box with a new image from USB (a new recovery)
  • boot it, reactivate kexec multiboot again
  • after the reboot, telnet into it
  • restore the multiboot slots:
    cd /
    tar -xzf /media/<device>/linuxrootfs1
    tar -xzf /media/<device>/linuxrootfs2
    tar -xzf /media/<device>/linuxrootfs3
  • restart, you should now be able to select and boot your multiboot slots again

Had the same problem last night...

these things only happened today with openpli-develop 16.6.2024 because of kernel updates

I didn't mention dreamboxedit anywhere? Why whould you want to use that, your rescue slot should not be used and contain any channel lists?

Let's forget the multiboot-kernel problems.. Can you connect your box to this program now (dreamboxedit)?
it's impossible now to connect your box with dreamboxedit if you are using openpli-develop

You fail to understand the problem.

Your slot 0 rescue image is the one that boots up, because the kexec multiboot installation is broken. And it only boots partly, because lots of kernel / operating system stuff is missing.

So it is not only unusable, it also does not contain anything for which dreamboxedit could be useful. So I don't understand why you insist on using it, it is a tool for channel lists, and your rescue slot does not contain channel list, it does not even contain a fully working Enigma.

There are only two options: either use my instructions and save your slot1/2/3 images, or just flash from USB and lose everything.

My friend , I understand you very well

I have one backup of channels on my computer that i want to send to the box through this program( dreamboxedit)

Then why didn't you say so? I can't smell from here what you have or haven't done.

DreamboxEdit works fine with every version of OpenPLi, so either something is wrong in your DBE settings, or something is wrong in your OpenWebif settings on the box.

If it fails to connect at all, start by checking if you have the correct IP address.

p.s. if you currently don't have kexec installed, could you post the contents of /proc/cmdline from your box?

We've found the problem, now looking for a fix...

You didn't reflash properly, seems you're still running with the half broken image that was in slot 0.

One of the symptoms of the broken kernel is that parts of /proc and /sys are missing.

Thanks, but I have that one. I was interested to see with the "kernel=" parameter was without kexec installed.

I'll try to find a test box.
