In which way is this response in any way helpful?

LOL, a rhetorical question....
Did you ever notice any of Gutemine's remarks to be useful?

#1026561 nr 888 verschijnt steeds in beeld

Hi,

you can switch the plugin itself to Full HD and it does some scaling then.

Ralf

The moment you activate that option , the plugin distort the structure of the Enigma2 image ,as mentioned above by @

Rob van der Does

Correct. And the same applies to the other plugins by Kashmir.

@Sandman: you have PM

Skinning of his plugins is very difficult and can only be done for a specific plugin setting. So it's fine for me, for my personal use, but not for generic use.

Although I'm absolutely no coder myself, even I can see that the way he handles screens/skin-size in his plugin is very bad. And indeed: his update frequency is not very high.

We had that one in the 3rd-party feed, but it was removed recently because it is no longer compatible, it crashes Enigma.

I use it all the time, but there is indeed a serious problem with this plugin (and other plugins of the same author):

in the settings of the plugin there is an option to support 1080-skin. As  soon as you enable that option, the plugin gives trouble. As long as you don't use that option, the plugin is fine.

I overcome the skin-issue by skinning the screns of the plugin myself.

#968797 Iemand ervaring met boblight of enigma light of iets vergelijkbaars?

Posted by Rob van der Does on 21 November 2018 - 11:26

It's 0.28 % what you're missing....

No: it's 0,185% and I I'm not missing that as that's invisible.

For me the problem is fixed by the plugin.

#854996 Quality of applications in general.

Posted by Rob van der Does on 7 March 2018 - 06:18

The problem is clear: Littlesat always asks for help/patches/pullrequests/bb-files, and when he gets what he wants he always starts a huge complaint about how bad/inefficient/ineffective the result is, and how much better and shorter the code should be, instead of showing happiness about the offered help.

Let me be clear: I'm not able or even willing to judge the quality of code; I can only judge the quality of the end result as it's being presented to the user, i.e. the functionality and user-friendliness.

But what I can be the judge about, is that always being greeted with negativism drains the enthusiasm of any coder to help PLi. And I know quite a few of them who refuse to offer any help/pushing-back to PLi, solely for this very reason.

Of course there can be criticism about code, and there usually is (especially if it's not your own code). But is it always necessary to show this criticism so clearly? There are better ways to handle critics. It's all about the way criticism is presented and about the amount of it.

What about the following guideline on receiving help:

1- Show being content, being happy about the offered help (instead of the current habit of complaining).

2- See if the help (in whatever which form it took pace) can be used without much difficulty. If so: apply the code.

3- Evaluate the code, make an invent of the goodies and the baddies of it, but do that in an inner circle. There's no need to spread all the critics around the world.

Of course: in this stage contacting the original author can be usefull, but should take place in a respectful way.

4- Start enhancing the code; in the end this may even mean replacing it completely with your own.

IMHO this would be a much more pleasant approach than the current continuous bashing of offered 3rd-party code.

After all: c'est le ton qui fait la musique!

#852533 Xtrend 10000 bugmelding ook voor de RC 6.1

Posted by Rob van der Does on 1 March 2018 - 10:37
