perhaps a little misunderstood.
The ET9000 is not connected yet to my scaler (DVDO Edge).
The 5000 HD is and the SD channel (LCI) is perfectly deinterlace for 576i, 576p, 720p & 1080i resolution.
I do the test by deactivating the Prep (this functionality correct bad interlaced source).
The good test would be to disconnect the 5000 HD to connect it directly to the plasma, but... take too much time...

Anyone else can comment about SD interlaced image quality I've mentioned above? Do you experience the same results as I do?

Yes, I do. With default settings, I can clearly see that channel logos are blurry and flickering. When using AR plugin to let the box output SD content with 576i, the logos look sharp.

Using AR plugin would be ok for me, at least as temporary solution. I use it anyway in order to output 1080p media content with 1080p.

I use it anyway in order to output 1080p media content with 1080p.

Which, to quote and correct myself, doesn't work yet. I would not really consider this as a bug, because the box is not being advertised to be able to output 1080p content. However, Dreamboxes and VU+ can do it, and on both it was implemented during development. I'm quite sure that technically the box is able to output 1080p as well, it's just not yet implemented in the drivers.

When I enable the 3 1080p resolutions in AR plugin and play back a 1080p file, the actual output resolution changes to 576i even though the info window of AR plugin states the intended 1080p resolution.

The output of 1080p content with 1080i works fine. All media files I tested so far work fine, including DTS audio. Navigating within media files work WAY better than on the VU+. On the VU+, when I played 1080p files with DTS audio, the playback itself was ok, but fast-forwarding, rewinding, skipping or changing audio track where often choppy or even caused the box to hang. On the ET9000 I could not observe any such issues so far. So I'd say once they implemented 1080p support, this is also a great media player.

Hi,

on CLI place command: cat /proc/stb/video/videomode_choices

to see which videomodes are supported.

pal ntsc 720p 720p50 1080i 1080i50 576i 576p 480i 480p

However, the question would be whether or not on a box where 1080p is supported via AR plugin, this command would really list 1080p as supported resolution. Never tried this on my VU+, which I now already put in its box.

Hi,

you should get for instance:

pal ntsc 480i 576i 1080i 1080p 720p 480p 1080i50 1080p24 1080p25 1080p30 1250i50
720p24 720p50 576p 1440x240 1440x288_50 1366x768 1366x768_50 640x480 800x600 10
24x768 1280x768 1280x720_50 1280x720 1280x720_ReducedBlank

Meaning that 1080p23, 1080p24, 1080p25 and 1080p30 are supported, So The ET9000 lacks of complete 1080p support.
AR finally makes use of a mapping table to assign the different Frequencies supported on 1080p Plackback only mode.

Thanks for the explanation. I am quite sure that 1080p support will be implemented in the near future. Neither Dreamboxes nor VU+ had 1080p support from the beginning. Seems like everyone needs to reinvent the wheel. Or needs to do all the same mistakes again. :D

Hi,

yes, that is quite strange since they all refer to the same refsw from broadcom.

Fell free to raise a ticket for 1080p playback.

Btw: Does AC3 over HDMI works? And AC3 Output via SPIDF when zapping is there no crackle noise?

Well, it's not that important to me. Honestly, I wouldn't even know where to adress this exactly. I could send a note to CT's support, but somehow I think that the devs here have a more direct contact, and I believe that they let them know about the issues that are discussed here. Well, at least I hope they do. :)

AC3 over HDMI works fine. Was one of the first things I checked, because this is one thing that usually never works from the beginning on any new HDMI-equipped receiver. Also no noise during zapping. Cannot state anything regarding optical though, as I don't use an optical connection.

One more note to the a/v settings:
The scaler sharpness should only be applied when the source brodcast will upscale e. g. from 576i to 1080i
i mean that scaler sharpness is not allowed to be applied when no scaling is performed (e g. 576i stay at 576i or - 1080i goes to 1080i -> HD have to stay unscaled).

Does this work?
Also switching on/off deinterlancer for both contents must work via AR.

Some questions:

Is the extended A/V Plugin for pq optimization working?
Is HDMI Hot-Plug in Standby working?
Will the screen be black when zapping?
Is LNB Power turned off at standby?

Only thing I can answer is "Will the screen be black when zapping?". Answer is "yes".

a question, did someone succeed to configured the ET9000 to work with only one LNB (loopthrough). Whatever I tried as configuration, when I launch a record (on tuner A), and I want to zap on another channel, I always had the error message "tune failed" ?

I configure Tuner B as loopthrough to tuner A, and I connected the little cable at the rear of receiver (output LnbA on input LnbB).

Where is my mistake ?

When I connect my other dish to the Tuner B, no such problem...

Isn't it the other way around Tuner A loopthrough to tuner B, I don't know if that is a choice in your menu?

a little bug in multimedia player.
On the right, the record date is cut. For instance, it is displayed esterday instead of yesterday.

By the way, is there a mean to change 'Yesterday' to 'Hier'. My current language selection is French no EnglishPosted Image
