I'll test tomorrow morning with OpenPli 4.

Do you get some error messages?
Can you do the following in telnet? (Warning this stops running recordings)

init 4
gst-launch playbin2 uri=file:///media/hdd/... -v > /tmp/gst.log 2>&1

Replace the ... with path and filename. Then you should see the video and perhaps hear the sound. You can stop it with ctrl+c. Then you can start e2 with "init 3".
In /tmp directory is a file named gst.log. Please post it here.

The error given has now changed to "GStreamer Audio Codec TrueHD/x is not available"

I will try the Telnet command later, work is calling. Thanks for all the help so far, most appreciated.

Many libs are missing in OpenPli4

Here is a packages of needed libs. Please put the file into /tmp and then execute this in telnet:
cd /tmp
unzip trueHd_libs.zip
opkg install libtheora_1.1.1-r1_mips32el.ipk
opkg install libx264-133_r2265+git0+585324fee3-r0_mips32el.ipk
opkg install libavutil51_0.8.8-r2_mips32el.ipk
opkg install libswscale2_0.8.8-r2_mips32el.ipk
opkg install libpostproc52_0.8.8-r2_mips32el.ipk
opkg install libmp3lame0_3.99.5-r1_mips32el.ipk
opkg install libavcodec53_0.8.8-r2_mips32el.ipk
opkg install libavformat53_0.8.8-r2_mips32el.ipk
opkg install gst-ffmpeg_0.10.13-r7_mips32el.ipk
Then restart E2.
As said before CPU load is very high. With my testfiles it seems that sound is delayed. I think it was a little bit better in OpenPli3. Perhaps it's possible to remove some post processing or something like that...

Can you install that package from feed?
If not, please update and try again.

I have tested it this morning with the latest OpenPli 4 image for my et9200.

Managed to get the packages to install via the box itself without errors and rebooted. Fired up the mkv file playback and the audio stream showed up in the yellow bottom but the playback was so choppy it was unwatchable. Might try going back to 3.0 any do the same again.

If you want to test it in OpenPli 3 you can install most libraries from feed. Then copy libgstffmpeg to the box. You also need another lib. I'll post it here tomorrow.
But I fear it won't be perfect, but you can try...

For OpenPli 3 install libs like here described: http://openpli.org/f...ndpost&p=368331

Additional to that unzip attached zip and put the file into /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/ (file already exists, at best make a backup before).

Did you delete the /home/root/.gstreamer/... file?

Can you execute the above mentioned gst-launch command and post the log file?

Quick update, after doing the init 4 Telnet session I went back to the box and tried to play the file via the PVR button and it now plays very choppy but the Dolby TrueHD English track shows via the yellow button. Unfortunately though there is no audio track showing up at my AV receiver so no sound from the speakers.

Ah, currently your box decodes the audio track. It seems that the CPU is too slow for that.

But now you say that you want to use your AV receiver. Can it handle Dolby TrueHd? Did you choose downmix "no" in audio menu?

Yes it can handle the TrueHD and yes downmix is no, sounds like there might be a chance. Crosses fingers.

I think it should be possible. What do the others think? Athoik, pieterg?
Problem is that I'm on holiday from tomorrow on. And I think that I'm not able to solve it today. So you need to wait at least one week.

Possible perhaps, but also perhaps a licence is needed and I don't know whether dream has bought it.
TrueHd contains sometimes a ac3 core. So it would be a workaround to use the ac3 core. The problem is that the ac3 core is not always included and somebody have to program it.

I think that even for 'simple' passthrough the hardware needs some kind of codec (to extract the timing info, and pace the audio playback).
So it don't expect it to work to be honest.

No problem with the wait, and thanks for the interest shown so far it's very appreciated.

A simple passthrough don't work. And I can't find a spec how to extract ac3 core from TrueHd. So I see no possibility to solve this problem.

Well, you can buy a new faster receiver. But much simpler, cheaper and faster would be to reencode the TrueHd track...
