Maybe we have to keep the white text color and to darked a bit the gray color....And for the current program to keep the dark blue

The problem in the GMEPG is the choice to have the navigation menu in GREY.  Normally, the cursor should highlight the selection where it is and in the skin it is just the opposite.

You can leave the Green as before, but please turn the current selected cursor location into BLUE for exemple. So that just by looking at the screen we can immediately find where the cursor is.

 

Browse the GMEP have your attention to something return to the TV Screen I coudl not find where the cursor is, this is really painfull.

 

Small game: where is the cursor (and it is not the hardest one):

Turn it into BLUE and we will saw it immediately.

 

Sometimes it's really complicated to know where it is. GREY on DARK the contrast is too low.

 

Uppercase doesn't means that I am shouting. 

 

 

OK...I think here the problem is different...

 

In the matter of colors the most contrast to the black is white (since that is the opposite/inverted color to black). So anything near to the white (in current case it have to be middle between black and white since the text is white and there needs to be a contrast between background and text) should give the best contrast.

 

In your example the event is so short that there is tiny line only. Not matter what color you will put there you will not see it since there are 1px gray border at the both sides. So the actual background will be very very tiny.

 

I know you got used to the old look of GMEPG where there were no borders (when there are graphics used for background) but in my opinion with no borders there is no way to separate correctly the different events too.

 

If blue is used for selection then how you will distinguish between the current service (which background is blue for the whole row in PLi) and selection? In this case selection have to be very light blue or the current service background to be different color. But in that case we will have a christmas tree since there will be many colors (now they are too many too imho).

 

The name of the skin suggests that the skin's color scheme is in dark shades of the colors. So it is normal there to be black and inversion of it white/gray

 

Also all of this is too subjective... I am testing all this on a 4K QLED tv that have really high contrast (by matrix definition) and true black color. So everything on my side is visible very well. However i dont know how that displays on a different tv with different contrast and brightness set up.

 

 

Higher contrast color will of course display better where the cursor is. 

 

I also wondering why the current select channel all line in in blue background, since we have only a few channels available on the GMEPG we often switch to another page. So this full blue line is not very usefull.

So my proposal is to have the current channel whole line in grey and set the cursor in blue. Will be more adapted to the graphical chart of your skin, more dark and just on "cursor" in blue.

Hi,

 

Again about the GMEPG  why is now, for the currently selected program, the start/stop time and duration at the bottom of the screen?  This is not an ergonomic at all, it was really fine when it was on the same line as the title or at lease close to it.

An alternative can be to display the selected problem  on the very first line (where we have today the bouquet name) and then place the start/stop duration where the current TV Show title is.

Then place the current bouquet name at the bottom (for me this information is not important).

Hello,

 

Well the main problems was 2....

 

1. Some people has complained because the TVShow title was too short and cant show long texts

2. There were drawing issues that left a space at the bottom and something had to put in there. There is also the genre and age rating if there are such. If there is no age rating or genre and i return the time on top there will be nothing in this line.

 

 

Also i can not really move the TVShow title on the place of screen title. The skin works with templates and that place is reserved only for titles.

 

I will see what i can do...Maybe i can found a solution....

May be:

Keep the full line for the TV Show title.

Include the start/stop/duration maturity rating right below the title line (perhaps in yellow color).

Folowed with the EPG data.

 

Then you can drop current start/stop/duration and you can shift down the EPG array.

Well  the problem is that i can not move the events array down due to that there are roundings that doesnt play well with the borders....

But i think we can make some compromises....

I think in this way there is more space for the title and still the time is on top. And at the bottom is pager and rating and genre.

 

Also now the selection is dark blue. Is that better?

Not with the current screen specification. The NumberZap screen have to be extended to have access to the selected service reference. And then there will be possibility to add the picon in skin.

I still don´t understand why DarkOS doesn´t have GraphMultiEPG with graphics, I did it once for PLiLike skin just putting /epg graphics from Nigtly skin and it worked, I see these lines missing in DarkOS, what are they good for

I dont get what you mean. In DarkOS EPG is based on graphics. Not on simple colors.

That is missing because it makes the whole view of the EPG cluttered with lines. I dont think that is useful and thats why i didnt add them.

Yes it is the same in Dark OS....But liter to black is gray...which seems no well accepted. So i changed that to blue....And current event is in green and selected current event in lighter green...

Agreed, "modern" is often equated to "flat", like the Windows or Metro interfaces.

Which is a 12 year old design... This skin has a different design.

Indeed 12 years old and at that time initiated by me based on another skin and the first skin that had ePanels en a bit later the color buttons on demand…

I also tried Milo’s relative positioning but it never made it…

I’m still convinced that using a different text color for the current selected even also helps… and for me I also think it might be also look better that the events that are currently played do have a normal background color. This will bring more rest to the complete layout.

I think perhaps something was lost in translation

 

There are 3 items in the GMEPG:

1. the current channel highlight colour
2. the active programme highlight colour
3. the cursor / currently selected programme colour

In the version I have active at the moment (which is yesterdays build), I see

1. white on blue
2. white on green
3. white on grey, or yellow on grey if 3 == 2

Which got the comment that the grey background is difficult to see against all the black if the programme duration is short.

 

So I think the only question is if the background of the cursor can be a more contrasting colour against the black? And then the text a contrasting colour against the background colour selected?
